Get Involved at WMUC

To learn more about getting on the air at WMUC, attend one of our Open Houses at the beginning of a semester. Check back on the home page and join the Slack around the beginning of the semester for details!

To get involved with any of our other departments, get in touch with us! We will continue updating this page with information on the active teams at WMUC.

Music Team

Hi! Do you think you have superior music taste? Do you accept that you don’t? Either way, join Music Team to hang out and review weekly new music submissions before they hit radio! We meet on zoom on Wednesdays from 6-7pm, no experience required!

Live Music Team

Live music team reviews band submissions for Third Rail. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 6pm on zoom.

Record Library Team

The record library team manages the day to day operations of the record library such as organizing and cataloging our records, and handling donations. Meetings are held Tuesdays at 7PM and Thursdays at 4PM in the station if you're interested in checking it out!

Communications Team

WMUC Communications Team handles all internal and external communications of the radio station, including promotions, graphic design, social media, community outreach, and zine. We meet mondays at 7pm on Zoom at this link.

WMUC’s zine is a semesterly publication that features writing, art, music reviews, poetry and more from the UMD community! There is no previous experience or application required to join the process — simply join the #zine channel in the Slack and start attending meetings (Mondays at 7:30pm) (Zoom link). Email with any questions.

Recording Studio

In addition to broadcasting great music, WMUC also has a fully-functional recording studio. Any University of Maryland student is welcome to be trained for usage. Once trained, students can use the studio for free when it is available. The studio has top notch industry-standard equipment. It is suitable for almost any recording purpose. There are microphones tuned to vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, and more. It is ready for anything. To get certified to use the studio you can come to the recording studio on Sundays at 5-6pm. Email with inquiries.

Video Team

WMUC’s video team creates videos that promote the station and showcases the Third Rail live shows. No filming and editing experience is required to join video team! Video team meets on Tuesdays at 8pm on zoom. Join the slack channel (#video-team) or email for more information.

Engineering Team

Engineering team manages the physical equipment that keeps the station running and fixes things when they're broken. If you'd like to learn more, contact or come to team meetings on Thursdays at 5PM!

Website Development
