Whether you know Bastille for their 2013 hit “Pompeii” or their collab with Marshmello on “Happier,” you’re going to want to come out to The Wharf on Sunday, June 5. Bastille will be returning to The Anthem as part of their “Give Me The Future Tour,” celebrating the release of the band’s fourth album. Their newest album, Give Me The Future, imagines a dystopian society dependent on one virtual reality company, Future Inc., and their VR device, FutureScape.

Many Bastille fans are familiar with front man Dan Smith’s cynicism from their previous albums, which still can be heard in Give Me The Future. Songs like “Plug In…” and “No Bad Days” have a pessimistic outlook on the future when society is dependent on a single tech company, especially when that power is not used appropriately. But Bastille is certain to remind us of the good that does remain in “Shut Off the Lights” and “Future Holds,” focusing on the personal relationships we develop. Their album wonderfully encompasses all the emotions one might feel looking toward the future.

Opening for Bastille is Sarah Jaffe, a singer-songwriter from Texas. She has a diverse set of musical talents, creating music from acoustic-folk to hip hop. Jaffe has worked with Symbolyc One, who produced for Madonna and Kanye West, on their project called The Dividends. Jaffe has seen great success and is best known for her hit “Clementine,” a song she wrote in ten minutes to fill up a set list.

Bastille headlined at The Anthem back in 2019 during their tour for Doom Days, the band's third album. From personal experience, I can say they know how to rock this venue. So, with such a beautiful venue and two great artists, take off your FutureScapes and get to Bastille’s show. Tickets are available here.
