Flo Milli Shows The Fillmore She's Still Here, Ho

While posting promotions about her upcoming project on Instagram, Flo Milli gave an additional gift to her fans by announcing the “Thanks For Coming Here, Ho” tour featuring upcoming rapper, Maiya The Don. The Fillmore filled up quickly on Nov. 2 with fans anxiously waiting for the show to start. As I moved through the crowd to get closer to the stage, the lights suddenly dimmed.
When they turned on, a DJ yelled into his mic, “Are y’all ready to see Maiya?”The crowd abruptly screamed — including myself, a long-time Maiya The Don fan. Maiya began the show with an a cappella version of her song, “Hella Scary,” before asking the DJ to drop the beat.
I was amazed by the new rapper’s ability to perform, especially her breath control. She also constantly interacted with her fans within the crowd as she moved throughout the stage. For Maiya’s second song, “Dusties,” two background dancers emerged from backstage and danced along with Maiya on stage. Her setlist consisted of all the songs on her debut album, “Hot Commodity.” During her performance of the song “Telfy,” she singled out a fan from the crowd named Isabella.
“Isabella, you’ve been making me feel so special all night... so I got something for you,” Maiya said as she handed Isabella the orange Telfar bag she was performing with on stage. Before she left the stage, the crowd chanted, “We love you, Maiya!” before the rapper announced they could meet her at the merch booth.
The stage suddenly changed to a Flo Milli version of VH1’s TV channel logo, showing various pictures of her and reality shows that were on the channel. The rapper came out with enormous energy to her song, “Bedtime,” off her 2022 album “You Still Here, Ho?” I was blown away by her performance as her mic was ON. She didn’t utilize any of the background vocals throughout her setlist, and rapped every word of each song she performed. Each song transported me back to my sophomore year of high school when I first discovered Flo Milli on SoundCloud. Along with the amazing setlist that featured oldies, but goodies like “Beef (Flomix),” “In The Party” and “Bundles 2.” My favorite part of the show was the stage set up. Each song featured a different stage background highlighting various pop culture and reality TV show references from the early 2000s, which added to the performance itself.
“You guys make me wanna come down there, y’all too lit!” the rapper said as her security guard guided her down to the pit to rap along with fans.
She definitely kept the crowd entertained, even bringing out Maiya once more for the song, “Conceited (Remix).” At one point, Flo Milli stopped the show to preview a snippet of an upcoming song on her new album. Although her setlist was only about an hour long, it was worth hearing Flo Milli’s catalog of songs throughout the years. This won’t be the last time we will be hearing of Flo Milli since her new album, “Fine Ho, Stay,” is projected to be released within the next month.
