Forever IS a Feeling at the Lucy Dacus Show

The beloved member of Boygenius, Lucy Dacus, is coming to The Anthem for two nights as part of her “Forever Is A Feeling” tour. The new album dropped on March 28, and fans have been poring over the lyrics, dissecting the meaning behind beautiful lines like, “If the Devil’s in the details, then God is in the gap in your teeth.” Dacus’ album is her most vulnerable yet, and this album is truly a love letter in all its forms. On the track Forever is A Feeling, Dacus recruits her Boygenius bandmates for background vocals, which is a nice little Easter egg for fans.

The album opens with Calliope Prelude, a soft, dreamy instrumental track that invites listeners into Dacus’ world, where love and heartbreak feel like brushstrokes on a canvas—delicate, deliberate, and saturated with emotion. The album is a feast for art history nerds. In Greek mythology, Calliope is the muse of eloquence and epic poetry. In Raphael’s magnificent frescoes in the Stanza della Segnatura in the Vatican, Calliope is the only female poet depicted among historical poets such as Homer and Virgil. The prelude sets the tone for the album, both musically and thematically, acting as a beckoning toward a series of intimate portraits and private confessions.

Dacus brought along a dream team of openers for the tour, her friends Katie Gavin and Jasmin.4. t. Gavin—best known as the lead vocalist and self-described token femme of the band MUNA. Gavin released her solo album, What A Relief, in October last year, taking a turn from MUNA’s pop sound for a more indie folk aesthetic. Jasmin.4.t is a British indie rock band that released their debut album, You Are The Morning, co-produced by none other than Dacus herself, along with her Boygenius bandmates Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.

Fans can expect Dacus’ gut-wrenching rock ballad Night Shift, alongside the nostalgic, unrequited pop love song Hot and Heavy. Personally, I can’t wait to sob to Christine and do my little dance to Best Guess. It’s going to be a night of laughter and tears, as well as a celebration of queer love, friendship, and all the feelings in between.
