UK native Dylan brought the house down at Union Stage this past Saturday with her electrifying "Rebel Child Tour." Channeling a pop princess mixed with a punk edge, Dylan captivated the audience from the very first note.
The night kicked off with a high-energy performance of "Rebel Child," showcasing Dylan's powerful vocals and her unique blend of pop and punk influences. Fans sang along to nostalgic anthems like "Girl of Your Dreams" and "Nineteen" while getting a taste of Dylan's evolution with new tracks from her upcoming album, including the fierce breakup anthem "Perfect Revenge."
A long way from home, Dylan and her band thanked their fans for their commitment and for being welcomed into the city. "It's so rare we can all be together, and if you are here, you have either gone through something or are going through something," she said. The crowd roared in agreement. Dylan delivered a show-stopping mashup of "Sour Milk" and Taylor Swift's "Out of the Woods," sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Dylan's heartfelt rendition of "Blue" was stripped down to a solo acoustic performance, showcasing her vulnerability and growth as an artist. "I've never done an acoustic part. This feels very intimate; I feel naked right now. We almost didn't put this song on the set because it's very rare that I write nice songs about people, and the person I wrote this song about is a dick. I didn't want to give them the justification of playing one of those songs on my tour. I'm a 24-year-old woman. I'm mature now, but I'm also not mature and want royalties off it."
She then took a surprising turn, delivering a riveting version of Sam Smith's "Unholy," infused with her song "Bad" and signature style. The setlist flowed flawlessly, moving from catchy pop tunes like "Someone Else" to the interactive crowd-pleaser "You're Not Harry Styles," where Dylan's infectious energy had the entire venue jumping.
Before singing her new song "The Alibi," Dylan explained the inspiration behind the piece: "3 a.m., a bottle of wine in one hand, a phone in the other—a recipe for disaster—and I was texting someone I shouldn't be texting. He said he really cared about me, which, as you know, at 3 a.m. is a lie. So, I said if you were ever involved in any criminal activity, I would be your alibi, and that inspired the song." The crowd erupted in laughter and cheers. Many faces held knowing smiles of shared understanding. Dylan grinned, soaking up the energy before launching into the opening chords of "The Alibi."
The concert closed with a bang on "Nothing Lasts Forever," leaving the audience buzzing with Dylan's upbeat tempo and dazzling gold guitar. It was a night filled with heartfelt moments, electrifying performances, and a glimpse into the future of a rising pop star. Dylan's "Rebel Child Tour" proved she not only has star power but also a deep connection with her fans, making this concert an unforgettable night.
