Ready for some spring break fun? Singer-Songwriter Role Model, also known as Tucker Pillsbury, is coming to the 9:30 club for two shows! The show is part of Role Model’s headline tour for his album 'Kansas Anymore,' released in July of 2024. Role Model kicked off the American leg of the tour in Phoenix, Arizona after finishing his European and Australian tours.

Role Model’s sophomore album references the quote 'Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas Anymore' from the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. His debut album, 'Rx,' contains indie-pop love songs such as 'neverletyougo' and 'if jesus saves, she’s my type.' Alternatively, 'Kansas Anymore' experiments with sounds adjacent to folk and country. While songs like 'Deeply Still in Love' lie in the singer’s indie-pop wheelhouse, Pillsbury delves into his emotions in soft melodies such as 'Slut Era Interlude.' The album features one collaboration with indie folk singer-songwriter Lizzy Mcalpine on the track 'So Far Gone.' Pillsbury explores the emotional complexities of relationships through folky pop melodies with stripped-down acoustic guitar and piano production. While 'Rx' embodies the "bad boy" trope, 'Kansas Anymore' delves into the raw realities of breakups, homesickness, and depression, capturing the difficult lessons that come with heartache and change.

Singer-songwriter Debbi Dawson opened the show, known for supporting big acts such as Orville Peck on his 2024 Stampede North American tour. Dawson is described as having soothing vocals, and her debut track 'Even If It Kills Me' landed on the cover of Spotify's 'Fresh Finds Pop Best of 2023' playlist. Audiences can expect to hear songs from her second EP 'How To Be Human' and her new single 'You Killed the Music,' which dropped on February 21st.

The show opens with the album's first track, 'Writing’s On The Wall,' setting the stage for an electrifying night. Energy erupts as Pillsbury’s famous TikTok humor shines while he introduces his band members. From stripped-down ballads to high-energy anthems, Pillsbury takes fans on a journey through heartbreak, healing, and pure joy. Fans can expect to sing, cry, and line dance along to the show. There’s truly no place like this!
