In 1989, WMUC’s own Mike Schulman started a label that was at odds with the popular DC hardcore of the time. Releasing records by the likes of Velocity Girl, Black Tambourine, The Powderburns, and The Lilys, Slumberland Records created a place for bands that would have felt more at home on Sarah or K than Dischord. As part of Slumberland’s 20th Anniversary Party at the Black Cat this Friday, November 13th, WMUC will be giving away 2 pairs of tickets. The party will include performances by Crystal Stilts, Brown Recluse, Pants Yell!, Frankie Rose & the Outs, The Ropers, Nord Express, and Lorelei.
